THE PRESS ENTERPRISE MADE THE STATEMENT BELOW APPEARED AS AN EXCUSE FOR NOT PRINTING A RETRACTION OF THE DUBIOUS STATEMENTS MADE ABOUT MORENO VALLEY SCHOOL BOARD CANDIDATE DR. DENISE FLEMING...

"It is The Press-Enterprise’s policy to research political candidates’ backgrounds to give voters biographical information they need before casting ballots. Research typically includes looking for criminal records, lawsuits, bankruptcies, campaign contributions and Secretary of State filings."

In the words of the late John Belushi as “Bluto” in the movie Animal House - BULLSHIT, BULLSHIT, BULLSHIT...

If the above-mentioned statement were true, you would have written about Mike Rios long before he ran for school board... Many of us tried to get your collective attentions.

If the above-mentioned statement were true, you would have written a formal retraction to the shabby research done by Lora Hines on Candidate Denise Fleming. Yes Lora, Denise has a Phd from an accredited university. This give

s the recipient the right to use the title doctor. You should have learned this in under-grad college. Though she seldom uses the title as you miss stated – she damn well earned it. Lora, so you don’t have to make more excuses; Fleming served in the US Navy. You seemed to have missed that as well.

If the above-mentioned statement were true, you would have made more than one phone call to try and find out anything at all about the fourth candidate Patrick (thanks to PE I don’t even know the guy’s last name.)

If the above-mentioned statement were true, you would have read the PE article, April 2006 by Kim Trone, in which Harold "Rick" Sayre tried to steal money from the sheriffs association's political action fund with the help of his friend and association president Pat McNamara; This of course without the knowledge of any of the association Deputies, Investigators or Corporals. The rank and file Deputies had to hold the association office hostage until McNamara, who didn't take a single vote on the issue, admitted his backdoor deal and agreed not to give the $500,000.00 to his buddy Sayre who was running for Riverside County Sheriff. Sayre needed the money to buy votes. Without that money he got less than 10% of the overall vote and even fewer among the Department rank and file members, according to your article.

If the above-mentioned statement were true, you would have noted that Rick Sayre was still obligated to the voters of Moreno Valley for another two years when he ran for Sheriff in 2006.

If the above-mentioned statement were true, you would have published that Rick Sayre participated in possibly the most unethical, by position, probable criminal act of NEPOTISM in the history of Moreno Valley Unified School District.

Rick Sayre and the other Trustees waited until 12:03 AM October 28, 2008 to appoint the HR Director's and Sayre's buddy’s son W. Mark Hasson to the principal ship of the highest scoring secondary school at the time in MVUSD. Hasson was unqualified. Hasson's father was his direct supervisor and Sayre's friend making this particular act of nepotism a crime by state education code AND board policy.

Mark Hasson didn't have the minimum academic background to even apply at the time. Sayre and Willie Sr. had to use a substitute principal for the first four months of junior’s tenure while junior finished his academics. Junior had the least experience of any of the 15+ candidates. He had the lowest interview score of all the applicants that interviewed. But Rick Sayre slid him onto the agenda after midnight October 29, 2008 when there were no citizens or press around. It’s in the October 28, 2008 Board Minutes. If they haven't "been lost."

If the above-mentioned statement were true, you would have talked to the local teachers union MVEA when Sayre first ran. You would know that the entire political action committee, all 10, voted no confidence in Sayre. However, Sayre attached himself to another candidate Mr. Bailey who was everything Sayre wasn't. The best candidate to interveiw. But because we couldn't get Bailey without supporting Sayre, the MVEA reluctantly supported Sayre as well. Thanks to that endorsement both Bailey and Sayre won seats. Bailey’s law office was burned to the ground (arson) and he had to leave Moreno Valley and Rick Sayre behind.

If the above-mentioned statement were true, it would have made print that Three remaining Board members aided and approved lying to the Riverside County Grand Jury regarding demands made in 2006 and 2007. Though the Grand Jury did not further investigate the statements made. The factual and complete evidence is known by anyone who has seen the Grand Jury’s and RCOE’s letters of inquiry. I don’t need to say which three sitting Board Trustees I am referring to. Nor the Superintendent. Nor the Assistant Superintendent of Fiscal Services at the time. Isn’t it a felony to lie to a Grand Jury?

If the above-mentioned statement were true, Tracy Vackars’ son might not be department head at an MVUSD school under his mother's direct supervision and none of Holguin's kids would have worked there as Aides. However, you don't need my input because anyone who cares about the truth knows WITHOUT A DOUBT, the above mentioned statement a mythical standard of journalism at the PE... has NEVER BEEN TRUE.
